Immense hatred against Karnataka cops

I just have immense hatred against the corrupt dogs that wear uniform in Bengaluru. I curse them and hope that their families will wither and die because of the way they have destroyed society. All I can do is curse them. I hope some day they have their comeuppance, made to apologise to all the people they harassed and troubled, and the fined monies are returned. Bastards dishonour their ancestors.

It is a Sunday, have finished with my work, but have to stay on for two hours and twiddle my thumbs. The progress on the laptop repair is not going well. There is a phillips screw that is stubbornly stuck and not dislodging. The base of the laptop has also warped and twisted because of the heat. The thermoplastic polymer used for construction is not great. This was supposed to be a reliable, long-lasting machine!

I also have to open up my other laptop to see what is the problem with that. Need to update my astrophysics blog, but there is just no new info or papers that is exciting me any more. Time to dig deeper into the new publications.

Will go to play the game now.

Got work to do but tired

Cleaned my noisy laptop that is making brrm brrm brrm sound. There was dust collected on the inside, and somehow fungus had latched on to it. Even after scrubbing everything clean, the pattern of the fungal growth is etched into the base of the lid. The poor fan is struggling at one point, where a particularly stubborn piece of dust is lodged. I need to get a good set of screwdrivers for electronics to fix it, which is available at Mr DIY. The Saravana Bhavan at the Select Citywalk there is close by. IDK if I am going to extraordinary lengths to fix a noisy fan.

I guess some things you take personally, and a machine that you use not performing properly is one of them. Sigh. Guess I better head out.

Something Something

I am ditching the weird timestamp thing, and hopefully getting back to daily blogging at the ends of work days. I went to a wedding in Chandigarh of an office colleague, and it was a lot of fun. The hotel had an abandoned wing that I also explored. There are so many things that I want to do in a day, but am not able to.

Delhi is a funny city. You can get a lot of things for cheap, but you wont even imagine the kind of tricks that people here pull off. Almost nothing is actually priced at the printed MRP, which I don't know why it is there. You need to bargain for everything. Now you do not expect to buy dubious screwdrivers that crumble when used on screws, but you can get them in Delhi. Similarly the immersion heater can fry your plug points, the tissue paper can be non-absorbent, nail clippers will break against toenails, zips of jackets will fail... the list goes on. Basically you need to buy only good quality stuff from reliable, expensive stores, so in the end, Delhi is not as cheap as people claim it to be.

Freaking dubious merchants all across the city.

I also went to the ISPA conference IISC, which is confusingly named similar to the Indian Institute of Science. The exhibition was sad, and there was nothing new compared to the second NSD exhibition. I really should have asked GalaxEye about which vehicle they are using to go to Space, has to be a SpaceX transporter mission. The timeline of ISRO is getting changed so rapidly, that it is hard to keep up. First they juggled the order of the missions, and now they have juggled the payloads on the missions!

Almost every week the configuration of the NGLV and LMLV are being updated. At the conference, I met some top space reporters from the country even though most of the media section was empty. It was a fun, off-beat conference, but the press release from the second day is not out yet. Waiting for that.

My laptop fan is making a lot of noise and it is driving me nuts. I used the dubious screwdriver to open it up, and the internals were not only dusty, but also caked with some long-dead fungus. I cleaned it all out, but I think I need to remove and properly clean the problematic fan. It is funny that I can get it to shut down by just pressing down on the chassis. I do not have a good working machine now, because my gaming laptop is overheating and shutting down as well. Need to do something about it, and I am going to go home now and operate all my machines. Might need to go to Nehru Place to fix both the laptops, but before that I want to try by myself by getting a good screwdriver kit from MR DIY. I found a new store in Saket that is just outside Select CityWalk, which is pretty good.

Also The Jughead Special at Saravana Bhavan at Janpath is something else. It is a milkshake made up of figs, dates, strawberry icecream and cold milk. Just crazy good, among the most beautiful things made by humans. Like forget the SpaceX Starship or the Intel Processor, this Jughead Special is what can truly rival neutron stars or interacting black holes.

Horrific death at wedding

Witnessed something pretty horrible earlier in the day. Had travelled from Delhi to Chandigarh with a colleague for the wedding of another colleague. The Hotel Parkview consists of a new wing and an abandoned wing, that I had a great time exploring. The new wing is identical in design to the old, abandoned wing, but has an extra floor. Now the two workers, Tinku and Sunil were working on the roof, when they both fell through a gap from the terrace to the first floor. The hotel has a number of shafts to create light wells in the interior. Soon after they fell, I walked up the stairs and was shocked to see Tinku on top and Sunil on the floor, both in pools of blood.

One of the members of the wedding party, the sister-in-law of the bride immediately climbed on top and tried to resuscitate Tinku, and asked for someone to call for an ambulance. The ambulance took its own sweet time to come. Sunil meanwhile was twitching on the floor, not in a conscious state. The ambulance when it arrived was as good as a hearse, because there was no medication, no saline in it. The hotel did not have any of the necessary gear as well. Additionally, both the workers were dressed only in their regular clothes and chappals, with no safety gear at all. Stepping on the flimsy covering of the shaft was a fatal mistake for both the workers.

Once the ambulance had cleared the bodies, there were spatters on the stairs going down to the first floor. The bodies were taken from the side exit instead of a direct route through the lobby. A potted plant and a 'area closed for servicing' sign was put up to secure the 'crime scene'. The police arrived, and recorded the statement of the hotel staff. This was a pretty straightforward and vanilla statement, the kind given to normalise the accidental death of two people. The guy maintained that both the workers were injured and rushed to the hospital by the hotel staff, which is not entirely true. Tinku did not survive. The place where he landed, there was a big mass of viscous, congealed blood, had never seen so much blood in my life, or all of it building up together into a mass.

If there was saline in the hospital, or in the ambulance, Tinku's life could have been saved.

PS here is the statement by the Chandigarh police: A case FIR No. 171 U/S 106(1) BNS has been registered at Police Station Sector 11, Chandigarh, on the complaint of Tilak Raj. The complainant reported that on 08.11.2025 at about 3:30 PM, installation work of polycarbonate sheets was ongoing on the roof of the third floor of Hotel Parkview, Sector 24, Chandigarh. Two workers, identified as Tinku and Sunil, were working on the rooftop when they accidentally fell from the third floor and sustained injuries. Both injured workers were immediately shifted to GH-16, Chandigarh, where Tinku was declared brought dead. The accused was arrested and later released on bail.
