Horrific death at wedding

Witnessed something pretty horrible earlier in the day. Had travelled from Delhi to Chandigarh with a colleague for the wedding of another colleague. The Hotel Parkview consists of a new wing and an abandoned wing, that I had a great time exploring. The new wing is identical in design to the old, abandoned wing, but has an extra floor. Now the two workers, Tinku and Sunil were working on the roof, when they both fell through a gap from the terrace to the first floor. The hotel has a number of shafts to create light wells in the interior. Soon after they fell, I walked up the stairs and was shocked to see Tinku on top and Sunil on the floor, both in pools of blood.

One of the members of the wedding party, the sister-in-law of the bride immediately climbed on top and tried to resuscitate Tinku, and asked for someone to call for an ambulance. The ambulance took its own sweet time to come. Sunil meanwhile was twitching on the floor, not in a conscious state. The ambulance when it arrived was as good as a hearse, because there was no medication, no saline in it. The hotel did not have any of the necessary gear as well. Additionally, both the workers were dressed only in their regular clothes and chappals, with no safety gear at all. Stepping on the flimsy covering of the shaft was a fatal mistake for both the workers.

Once the ambulance had cleared the bodies, there were spatters on the stairs going down to the first floor. The bodies were taken from the side exit instead of a direct route through the lobby. A potted plant and a 'area closed for servicing' sign was put up to secure the 'crime scene'. The police arrived, and recorded the statement of the hotel staff. This was a pretty straightforward and vanilla statement, the kind given to normalise the accidental death of two people. The guy maintained that both the workers were injured and rushed to the hospital by the hotel staff, which is not entirely true. Tinku did not survive. The place where he landed, there was a big mass of viscous, congealed blood, had never seen so much blood in my life, or all of it building up together into a mass.

If there was saline in the hospital, or in the ambulance, Tinku's life could have been saved.

PS here is the statement by the Chandigarh police: A case FIR No. 171 U/S 106(1) BNS has been registered at Police Station Sector 11, Chandigarh, on the complaint of Tilak Raj. The complainant reported that on 08.11.2025 at about 3:30 PM, installation work of polycarbonate sheets was ongoing on the roof of the third floor of Hotel Parkview, Sector 24, Chandigarh. Two workers, identified as Tinku and Sunil, were working on the rooftop when they accidentally fell from the third floor and sustained injuries. Both injured workers were immediately shifted to GH-16, Chandigarh, where Tinku was declared brought dead. The accused was arrested and later released on bail.
