Infected Mushrooms - None if this is real

Now, let us try a test. Let us see if I can make you say “oh damn”. Lets see, how much the computer works on you. The computer that you use, makes you do many things that you don’t really want to do. It makes you, for example, install programs, find and download drivers, and other programs, and it makes you refer to its help file every so often, it makes you answer the desperate call of programs running in the background in trouble, it makes you answer in turn to every single idea popped up by adware, spyware, malware accompanists of software that you download. It steals your focus sometimes even, it makes your mouse jump to an ok button, placed where you are never going to find out what you said ok to. It makes you come up with passwords, to retrieve information that is meant for you… it makes you hide, a whole bunch of incoming e-mails, beneath a word, that you are going to cook up, which is a key to so much information, you will never have any control over. Your e-mail address, has over the years, made you ridicule, friends who send silly forwards, suspect, people who ask for help, demean people who are head front, and make you extremely careful about attachments that need to be downloaded. Now this is something that happened to you, when, what you really wanted to do, was keep in touch with friends, share information with strangers, social network virtually, and the likes. You know what you wanted to do with your computer, and now, you are also aware of what the computer has made you do.

Now, you might be under the impression, that what the computer has made you do, is totally unconscious. You may think, there is no intent behind what the computer is making you do. Now, imagine, you knowing that you can make someone do something, by a mere suggestion, then you are very likely to make that person do something. We are all stuck up, trying to control each other in a sense you know. In fact, this control game, is the very foundation, of the rampant politics in our system. Now you know that visuals can influence you, you also know that the people who design the computers, also know which visuals influence you. They know what the @ symbol make you do and what the smiley makes you do. They know all the little tiny pictures that can influence you. Look a the list of display pictures offered to you in Windows XP. They are a list of pictures, that not only show different images of a varied kind, that is influencing you in different ways, they are also aware that you look the pictures and know that you are aware of what the picture is likely to represent of you. Which is why, you think, you should choose a picture that represents you. What you don’t think about, but the people who made XP did, was that you had a very narrow range of pictures to choose from. What they did, was allowed you to choose your own fucking display pic, and that might have made you think, that they did not have any intention behind choosing that particular set of display pics to be used in windows XP by default.

Now the best thing they could have done is made market research into which places windows XP is likely to be sold in, the cultural semiotics of that region, making a list of all such patterns, and finding out, which patterns have the widest common base, as in appear the most in total, and you have a list of a wide range of universal cultural symbols, which you segregate and identify age-wise of the researched audiences, and you have a set of symbols that can influence a lot of people. Now you know where these symbols will be influential, and you also know how, wouldn’t you choose a symbol, that would be beneficial to you as well, if you were the makers of windows XP. Does this not make sense? Is there a flaw in the logic somewhere?

No, you know it, the computer makes you do a lot of things. It has just been proven, that most of the activities that you indulge in while on a computer, is something that the computer is making you do, because it is drawing attention to fulfill its own needs. Now, you realized what the computer can do to you… imagine what any other media in the world, can do to you. It can be dangerous. It can be weird.
Ok… now we are going to see, how movies have made you do things. Yes… movies have even changed how you do people, you think it cannot change how you do things? Lets play a game to find out exactly how a film influences you. Please guess the film based on their keywords clusters at imdb.com. Imdb dot com, is an online catalogue of a lot of information on a lot of movies. Please note here, that you understand cinema only through the computer. Anyway, let’s play, guess the movie:

How many could you guess? How many could you guess because of being aware of the university of mumbai’s list of movies to be shown to BMM students? How many could you guess? Now these movies all together suggest a lot of things. This gives us perfect data for a study. A study of which ideas are most likely to affect us, as the most common ideas in the above list are the ones that have been reinforced most often right? Doing that, by feeding all the words in… well, I have to use the computer now… Word has an auto summarize feature that uses keyword count and other factors to determine a short summary. When you click on the option it says “word has examined the document and picked the sentences most relevant to the central theme” Here, is a short summary, of what the university wanted to influence you with:

Children Bicycle Accident Blind Man Brother Sister Relationship Foot Race Gardener Shoes Sugar Surreal Drugs Overhead Camera Shot Drug Addict Human Relationship Fast Motion Sequence Critically Acclaimed Melancholy Drug Use Art Degradation Surrealism Hospital Heroin Speed Tragedy Independent Film Drug Abuse Sex Orgy Dieting Drug Dealing Electric Shock Therapy Game Show Infomercial Jail Mother Son Relationship Television Based On Novel Time Lapse Photography Insanity Prison Psychological Drama Dildo Hallucination Interracial Kissing Racial Slur Vulgarity Extreme Close Up Dress Inattentive Doctor Pawnshop Prescription Drug Abuse Refrigerator Sex In Public Claustrophobic Split Screen Disturbing Forced Prostitution Oral Sex Anti Drugs Arm Amputation Vomit Scene Heroin Addict Nudity Coney Island Brooklyn New York Controversial Subway Abscessed Wound Interracial Relationship Amputation Gangbang Blow Job Cheating On Boyfriend Fellatio Orgy Sex Blood Splatter Friendship Murder Tragic Ending Violence Anal Sex Drug Addiction Hate Interracial Sex Nightmare Object In Rectum Psychiatrist

But the movies shown in the classroom of BMM students varies widely from the movies shown in the movies actually shown in the classroom. If we can study the movies shown in a particular class room, then we know exactly what that particular classroom is affected by. Fortunately, the chronicler happens to have such a classroom’s list as the study, and the keyword summary of that list, results in:

Propaganda Vulgarity Extreme Orgy Sex Blood Splatter Friendship Children Bicycle Accident Blind Man Brother Sister Relationship Foot Race Gardener Shoes Sugar Surreal Drugs Drug Addict Human Relationship Fast Motion Subway Abscessed Propaganda Sequence Critically Acclaimed Melancholy Drug Use Art Degradation Surrealism Oral Sex Anti Drugs Hospital Heroin Speed Tragedy Love Gambling Casino Gambling German Occupation German Officer Heartache Lovesick Paranoia Paranoid Conspiracy Independent Film Drug Abuse Sex Orgy Dieting Drug Dealing Electric Shock Therapy Game Show Infomercial Jail Mother Son Relationship Television Love Triangle French Based On Novel Time Lapse Photography Insanity Prison Psychological Drama Dildo Hallucination Interracial Kissing Racial Slur Morality Chop Shop Title Spoken Vulgarity Extreme Close Up Dress Inattentive Doctor Sex Los Angeles California Police Officer Quote Compassion Hate Hope Bird Child Abandonment Grandmother Blindness Pawnshop Prescription Drug Abuse Refrigerator Sex In Public Claustrophobic Split Screen Disturbing Forced Prostitution Oral Sex Anti Drugs Arm Amputation Vomit Scene Heroin Cafe Drunk Flashback Sequence Wartime Addict Nudity Coney Island Brooklyn New York Controversial Subway Abscessed Wound Interracial Relationship Amputation Gangbang Blow Job Cheating On Boyfriend Fellatio Orgy Sex Blood Splatter Friendship Murder Tragic Ending Violence Anal Sex Drug Addiction Hate Interracial Sex Nightmare Object In Rectum Psychiatrist

The ideas of “boy and poverty” are spiked because of Salaam Bombay and Colors of Paradise, and because the class had seen Crash, it has given a positive reinforcement of the ideas suggested by Birth of a Nation, which is something the university definitely didn't want not want students to have, now would it?

Now, this study of this set of movies, was done actually to sort out a flaw in a very general study. The general study was what movies affect people in a geographical area. This study could have been conducted by doing a keyword search and summarization of all the hits in the are in the past year. But people would then argue, that a lot of other films watched by the people would also affect them. The data becomes stronger when two independent data lines coincide. This is a two way study now… to see what affects the students of Mumbai in general, and what affects the students of this college in particular. The local hits of 2006 in Mumbai are: gangster, vivah, Phir hera Pheri, Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, Don, Rang De Basanti, Fanaa, Lage Raho Munnabhai, Dhoom 2 and Krrissh. The English top grossers of last year, have either not been released in Mumbai as yet (Happy Feet), or have been released in hindi (One Night at the Museum). Only one top grosser has made any dent in the list for Mumbai, and that is Casino Royale. The keywords of this movie, was used. keyword summry reads:

Repentance Corruption Crime Premarital Sex Twist In The End Underworld Don Kiss Tragic Ending Gangster Pregnancy Shootout Railway Station Alcoholic Construction Site Terrorist Cell Phone Super Villain Butterfly Knife Secret Service Shower Gadget Car South Africa Silencer Bond Girl Airplane Blockbuster Prequel To Sequel Prequel Train Lagoon Womanizer Nightclub Bench Sex Railway Station Infidelity Call Girl Soccer Coach Bouquet Slap In Dominatrix Teacher Cellphone Marriage Soccer Match Frigidity Coincidence Hospital Hotel Room Mother Son Relationship Divorcee Love Scene Car Accident Dinner Party Traffic Signals Rose Cult Film Murder Father Son Relationship Actor Playing Multiple Roles Bathtub Cell Kuala Lumpur Martial Arts Anti Hero Swim Suit Documentary Filmmaking Tragic Ending Television News Film In Film Woman Director Cult Favorite Marriage Proposal Jet Fighter Pilot Violence Police Brutality Protest March Freedom Fighter Police Violence Motorcycle Television Set Corruption Rebellious Youth Youth Violence Revolutionary Assassination Hindu Patricide Alcohol Political Protest Radio Station Death Of Friend Religious Intolerance College Teenage Boy Wheelie Muslim Local Blockbuster History Awakening Love Faked Death Blindness Helicopter Muslim Murder Terrorism Stage Show Snow Tour Guide On The Run Out Of Wedlock Child Snowmobile Kashmir Rain Lage Raho Old Age College False Identity Security Guard Critically Acclaimed Male Bonding Sikh Restroom Scene Comic Sidekick Suicidal Thoughts Psychiatrist Soccer Character Name In Title Astrologer Beach Lawyer Sidecar Taxi Driver Wedding Buddy Comedy Slap In The Face Medicine College Campus Cellphone Telephone Bus Popcorn Coffee Skydiving Diamond Theft Gold Desert Fight On Train Roof Mumbai First Love Drug Deal Product Placement Pregnant Wife Sequel Twist In The End Disguise Sequel To Cult Favorite Red Dress Grandmother Grandson Relationship Masked Hero Secret Identity Superhuman Love Crime Fighter Super Speed Special Effects Motorcycle Photographer Circus Performer Product Placement Rescue Biker Gang Flying

Added to the movies in the course, the psychological makeup of the people in the class reads:

Propaganda Vulgarity Extreme Orgy Sex Blood Splatter Friendship Children Bicycle Accident Blind Relationship Foot Sugar Drugs Drug Addict Human Relationship Fast Motion Subway Propaganda Oral Sex Anti Drugs Hospital Speed Corruption Crime Premarite College Campus Cellphone Telephone Bus Popcorn Coffee Skydiving Diamond Theft Gold Desert Fight On Train Roof Mumbai First Love Drug Deal Product Placement Pregnant Wife Sequel Twist In The End Disguise Sequel To Cult Favorite Grandmother Grandson Relationship Masked Hero Secret Identity Bond Girl Train Lagoon Superhuman Love Crime Fighter Super Speed Special Africa Silencer Womanizer Nightclub Television Set Corruption Rebellious Youth Youth Violence Revolutionary Love Gambling Occupation Documentary Heartache Lovesick Paranoia Paranoid Independent Drug Abuse Sex Orgy Shock Therapy Game Show Infomercial Jail Mother Son Relationship Television Acclaimed Drug Coincidence Hospital Hotel Room Mother Son Relationship Divorcee Love Son Relationship Actor Product Placement Rescue Biker Gang Flying Tragedy Kissing Racial Slur Morality Chop Shop Title Spoken Vulgarity Extreme Close Up Dress Inattentive Soccer Playing Multiple Roles Bathtub Cell Anti Hero Swim Suit Documentary Filmmaking Tragic Ending Television News Film In Film Woman Director Cult Favorite Marriage Proposal Jet Fighter Pilot Use al Sex Twist In Kiss Tragic Ending Railway Station Alcoholic Construction Site Terrorist Cell Phone Super Villain Knife Secret Service Prison Psychological Drama Hallucination Assassination Hindu Patricide Alcohol Political Bench Sex Railway Station Infidelity Call Girl Soccer Coach Bouquet Slap In Dominatrix Teacher Cafe Drunk Flashback Sequence Wartime Addict Nudity Coney Island Brooklyn New York Controversial Wound Interracial Relationship Amputation Gangbang Blow Job Cellphone Marriage Brutality Protest March Police Violence Motorcycle Protest Radio Station Religious False Identity Critically Acclaimed Male Bonding Scene Comic Sidekick Suicidal Thoughts Psychiatrist MedicinDegradation Love Triangle French Based On Novel Time Lapse Photography Insanity Effects Motorcycle Scene Heroin Cheating On Boyfriend Fellatio Orgy Sex Blood Splatter Friendship Murder Tragic Ending Violence Anal Sex Drug Addiction Hate Interracial Sex Nightmare Object In Rectum PsychiatristPhotographer Circus Performer Match Frigidity Violence Police Doctor Sex Los Officer Quote Compassion Hate Hope Bird Child Abandonment Grandmother Blindness Prescription Drug Abuse Refrigerator Sex In Public Claustrophobic Split Screen Disturbing Forced Prostitution Oral Sex Anti Drugs Arm Amputation Vomit

Make keyword searches of your favorite movies, and viola! You have your own specific influences, you will have, on paper, everything that films make you do. Well movies definately seem to make a lot of mention about the Patronas towers, but there are some things that have influenced these people because of the movies they have watched outside, combined with a factor having nothing to do with movies - their course awareness of documentary film making has spiked their association with the documentary film maker in Rang De Basanti... but the question here is, What in hell made Microsoft Word throw up the word documentary in the summary? What are the algorithms that make it pick this word as being more relevant to the central idea? What is the computer, making you do?

For you consideration, a Selection of some of the words in the movie list but not in the student's list - effectively showing common influences in the movies released in Mumbai in 2006.

The End Underworld

Butterfly

Shower Gadget

Airplane Blockbuster Prequel To Sequel Prequel

Kuala Lumpur Martial Arts

Freedom Fighter

Death Of Friend

Red Dress

Hmm… that does not make sense… that is a weird list… of keywords that influence the movies that influenced the hits of 2006 in Mumbai… hmm… therefore, a list of movies containing the above in their keywords, would affect the film making in Mumbai. Therefore… a list of all the movies containing the words above will be a list of movies affecting film making in Mumbai… oh cool, lets look at that list now:
[The chronicler, realized, during the actualization of the search procedure, that a slight mistake had been made in the list. It shall now be corrected:

The End

Underworld

Butterfly

Shower

Gadget

Airplane Blockbuster Prequel To Sequel Prequel

Kuala Lumpur

Martial Arts

Freedom Fighter

Death Of Friend

Red Dress

Gives us: A Bug's Life, Kasme Vaade, Funkytown, Southpark, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Meet the Parents, Terminator 2, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Glaaxy, The Sixth Sense, Traffic Signal, The Spy Who Loved Me, Left Behind, The butterfly effect, The Illusionist, Casino Royale, The Craft, American Beauty, Silent Movie, Psycho, Bend it Like Bekham, Magnolia, The Godfather, Fight Club, Congo, Terminal Velocity, Scorpion King, Matrix, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Kill Bill, Catch me if you can, Requiem for a dream, Mission Impossible, entrapment, Karate Kid, jurrasic Park, Bloodsport, Aeon Flux, Die Another Day, Southpark, Lara Croft, The Da Vinci COde, Batman, No Man's land, Casablanca, Cross of Iron, Sin City, V For Vendetta, Titanic, Finding Nemo, when harry Met Sally, Erin Brockovich, Thirteen, As you like it, Frida. Cool eh?

Entrapment was the only movie for the keyword of Kuala Lumpur, does that mean that Entrapment is the only english film to have influenced the depection of so much Malasia in Bollywood? It is also interesting, that Traffic Signal was in the list, that was a movie released after many of the films. This shows that its going to be a hit, but anyone who had analysed this data before traffic signal was released, could have said it is a hit? Hmmm... interesting... want to make some of them fucking predictions now? Go right head please.... they are no mere predictions, they are the precognitions mistaken for the predictions.

Nice racing mind now isn’t it? It traveled from Understanding Cinema to Semiotics. What had you set out to do? Oh damn…
